Does anyone catch their own suckers to use for bait? any tips??

One tip is to make sure you catch them from the same lake you're using them in now. Since the VHS stuff, you will likely get into some trouble if the DNR sees is.

Not sure how that is going to work--The wild river suckers I buy at the bait store in N. WI are caught wild out of the Wis. River. You can buy both types the Wild SUckers which are black and full of energy or the Bait raised one's which are silver/white and hardly move at all. The wild WI.RIver ones come from the bait dealer also but again come from the river and are used in the lakes where I fish.???? I have caught many by hook and line in the river system that feeds the lakes I fish---just kinda a pain in the Butt to take the time to do that when I can buy good quality wild ones at the bait shop.

If your going to try and catch them using a minnow sein(?) I've found the suckers like to hang out in the dark areas. Run your sein under small highway or road bridges! You'll find alot of crayfish under them as well!
