Location: Muskegon Michigan | Its going to hurt to pay this first quarter. Im with you, I would like to see them draw a line or lower it for small guys like me say anyone under 100 grand per year pays 5% instead of 10 and anyone under 50 grand pays like 2% . You pay 5 different taxes? I only pay three. Income, single business and excise. Well I suppose state and federal would be two so I pay 4 taxes. You must pay a city tax? Mike |

Location: Muskegon Michigan | What is killing us even more is nafta and the G.A.T.T. Agreements. I used to build Bucktails. I sold them for 7.50 each wholesale. I had a guy approach me who wanted to build my bucktails in Nicaragua. His quote was .69 each plus components. Get this. He paid the excise tax on .69 @ 6.9 cents per lure. I was paying .75 cents per lure. When I told him No he copied my lure and undercut my price and I lost a store. Then I found out that there is no longer any patent rights in the United states. All international patent infringments are handled in Bildergerg switzerland at the World trade organization. This is why the Chinese,Nicaraguans and anyone else for that matter can copy anything they want. It cost more to go to the WTO and fight it then its worth. I am encouraged to sell wholesale over seas or to Canada because I dont have to pay the excise tax on exports. Then the Canadian stores can sell them back to consumers in the United states with no tarrifs attached. But get this, If I try to sell direct to Canadian consumers at retail The consumer is limited to a 60 dollar purchase or he pays huge duties(tarrifs) N.A.F.T.A. is a one way street. We removed restrictions at retail level and the Canadians did not. To use THE N.A.F.T.A. documents I must be selling to registered Canadian store or distributer. Otherwise to sell large orders at retail we American manufacturers have to lie and say the order is a gift or commercial sample or lie about the value. Any of those infractions is considered smuggling contraband. Its a joke and has been from the start. Thank the Clintons and the Bushes for that sell out of American business. There is nothing free or fair about Nafta. It was designed to break the United States Middle class high wage earners. The plan was to drop our wage base and raise the rest of the worlds up to a point where they meet somewhere in the middle. But instead it turned into a greed war race to the bottom. Slave labor, unsafe working conditions, rampant polution, and the exiting of thousands of American companies and the loss of Millions of jobs. Sorry for the Rant guys but its a war out here to stay competitive. Quality is all I have to stay where I am. All it would take is some bastard to copy all my baits in some third world country and undercut my prices and Ill be out of business. Its that fragile out here in the business world. Mike |
