My friends and I love to fish. We are all 18 and we were planning on going on a fishing trip for musky to a lake in Ohio called Leesville Lake. It was said to be the number one Musky lake in ohio. The trip is in Mid Spring, but we were worried that it might still be to cold. Any tips on how to fish for Musky and Pike in colder, cooler weather? What baits? We are hopping to catch a fish of a lifetime and have a good time fishing for these MONSTERS. If any help please post. Thank you

Well, I have never fished in that lake, but can give you some advice. When I fish the Wisconsin opener, I use small twitch baits and smaller bucktails. The muskies seem to react to smaller baits when the water is colder. Just my experience. Good Luck on your trip.

Not familiar with the lake but fishing baits slower would be the way to go. Also if you have a temperature gauge in your boat look for areas were the water is warmer. I'm also assuming the lake contains shad.? If so try to locate schools of them because muskies shouldn't be far from there food source.

Get yourself aquainted with catch & release first off, Dont want to see any floaters when I fish that lake !
stop by clows landing or petersburgh and ask what's hitting & on what.
I use my own baits, So I cant really help you on that.
Remember that leesville has a 10 hp. motor limit !
You mentioned that you are worried that it will be cold, What exactly do you mean by cold ? 20 degree's ? 50 degree's ?
when is Mid spring to you ? april ? may ?
I think it would be a good decision if you did some homework and check out leesville's web page for the information you are seeking. We can't really be helpful to you without some more info, Weather in Ohio around march-may is crazy, it will be 65 degree's one day and the next it will be snowing then you'll get some thunderstorms to top the night off.
