| I'm not looking for anyone to give away any state secrets, but I'm taking a buddy out Saturday afternoon til dark for his first muskie hunt (not that I'm that experienced), and I'd like to show him a good time on the water. I'm curious what your opinions are on these three lakes as far as what the boat traffic will be like on a Saturday; and any info about water temps, water clarity and/or weed growth now.
Of course, if anyone wants to tell me where the hot bite is, I won't complain, but more general info on conditions would be fine. Feel free to e-mail if you prefer at: [email protected]
Thanks,
Bill |

| I've been on White Bear a few times, once for muskies, and Bald Eagle once. Bald Eagle has lots of really nice breaks off of the weedline. I had a big fish blow up on me off the forward end of the island out from the landing and caught a small one off the deep edge of the second reed line out from the landing. The water is muddy. I saw and caught the fish on a pink spinnerbait.
White Bear is a clear water lake. Full of Millfoil. Concentrate on sharp breaklines off of points and millfoil edges. I haven't been out there since last summer but the boat traffic can get bad on the weekends.
I would usually go to Tonka for Muskies because there's allot of them and there's also lots of nice pike. Never been to Forest Lake.

| You will find that the boat traffic on Saturday afternoon will be quite high on all of the lakes you mentioned. Forest lake may be the best for traffic as there are three smaller lakes all together in one. This sometimes limits the traffic on one or more areas. If you don't put in early you may not get a parking spot on Bald Eagle. Lot's of pleasure boaters there. I don't know much about White Bear. Hope this helps, I wouldgo to Forest Lake myself. |
