| Was down working at a Job Corp site in Southwestern Montana last Friday and Saturday. They are set up in a beautiful valley on the East Fork of the Bitterroot River...I would call it a large stream. Had a chance to fish after work Friday and caught a couple dozen of the most beautiful cutthroat trout from 13 to 17 inches (picked up a 18 and 20" brownie too). I didn't realize even here in state of the Westslope Cutt there were areas with that many of the beautiful fish left. They were all redded up in spawning colors. Just had to share a unique experience in trout fishing even for me.

| Trout are beautiful fish. If there are no muskies about, they are actually a worthy adversary, and not bad in the pan, either. |

| Got plenty of trout below the house here in the river. The only truely native trout here are Brook trout + they are beautiful fish. I also enjoy slamming sea trout, speckled + gray. A mile up river they have a section for single hook artificial catch/release only which also happens to be one heck of a smallmouth stretch too...after June 1st that section is open for all fishing until Sept. With fewer musky here I have little choice but to fish for the lessers! [:sun:] |
