I concur with Baldy -- RIT dye from most grocery stores works just fine. I would like to caution you, however, that this can be a very messy project. I don't recommend doing this on your wife's kitchen stove using her good pots and pans!

I only tried dying bucktails once and probably won't do it again. I do like to use my own bucktails, but I stick to natural/white. For colored tails I just buy them from my favorite lure supply store at about $4 per tail.

When I buy tails, I look them over closely and select only the ones with the longest hair. (personal preference).

Good luck,
