Location: Wheeling, IL. | Was at Sabaskong Bay Camp from the 8th to the 12th. Temp. was record high for the area. the first 3 days were 95 to 100. Lake water topped out at 83!
A storm came in on the 11th and cooled things off. Ski's started finally moving. 4 in my group finally started getting follows. one location had 6 casts resulting in 4 follows. Finally had 4 fish on, one from the pier and just let it get off due to no net, one spit me out and boated two. Largest follow of the time was over 50, but it was still so warm that he just swam away. I hope August is better.

Location: DES MOINES, IOWA | We got back the 5th,and had one sunny day in 11 days up there.Temps in 60s with plenty of wind,rain,and multiple fronts.Think 72 was the hottest I saw on a water temp with the mid 60's the norm.Had to really screw up the fishing for a while with that drastic a jump in temp the next week.We mostly saw and caught smaller fish,but did see 55 type of fish a couple of miles North of you.I absolutely hate high water.Man,that really seems to spread them out.Prefer the knock your lower unit off type of low water level for catching bigger fish. |
