Location: Holly, MI | Off season I do a complete teardown, clean, inspection, and lube and then cast away all summer long. If your reel is exposed to a lot of dirt or dust you might want to clean it more often, like riding in the back of your pick-up bed down dusty dirt roads.
I keep an extra pawl in my tackle box. This is the main mechanical wear item and will need to be replaced at the most inopportune time. It takes only a minute to replace and you are casting again, If you had one handy to put in. |

| post season you should totallly break down and rebuikd each reel. Replace worn parts, or, trick out as you please. Mid season, be ready to cleam and replace worn parrts as necessary. |

Location: Downers Grove, IL | <p>This is a timely post as I was looking for this info...does anyone know of a similar site with directions for cleaning spinning reels? I have a couple Stradics I want to clean up and I pulled out the manual thinking it would explain where to grease/oil. All's it says is that the reel should be kept properly lubed and to have it done by a "qualified service professional". Gee, thanks. I think I can handle it but don't want to oil where I should have greased or vice versa. </p><p>Thanks. </p><p>Jeff</p><p /> |
