| The first qualifier of the 2004 season is in the books and it has started off much like the 2003 season ended. The 2003 PMTT World Champions Steve Imhoff and Clark Bailey returned to action along with 115 other teams to kick off the 2004 PMTT season! Steve and Clark showed why they deserve the title of World Champions by becoming the FIRST back to back event winners in PMTT history! By using a tactic that no other teams seemed to be able to duplicate they scored a 37.5" on day 1 and secured 1st. place with a 41.25" on Sunday! The hot bait? A jig!! After reading a article about jigging for Muskies they decided to take some of the ideas and apply them to the Cave Run fish! Man did it pay off! Both fish were caught in the highly pressured waters of Cave Run's Scott Creek Marina. The marina has produced a number of large fish recently on rattle baits but for most PMTT anglers the rattle was off. 2003 Top Gun's take second! The team of Jason Summers and Tony Demars 2003 Top gun winners finished second at the Cave with Sunday largest fish a healthy 43" fish! They used a run and gun stlye approach after finding that the bite was tough and fish were scarce. Tony caught the fish on a Grim Reaper and said "She had alot of fight in her!" Tony and Jason fished a special spot that they hope to visit again very soon! Third place taken by Husband/Wife team Linda Jacobs made her first visit to the Cave a special one as she and husband Gary doubled on saturday and secured a third place finish. Linda and Gary hail from Eagle River Wisconsin and did the same things on Cave Run's famed Zilpo flats to catch fish as they do at home. Fishing smaller baits they produced in the spots that many other anglers had tried and failed! Congrats Gary and Linda! A total of 19 fish were caught over the weekend as the lake levels rose, then dropped over the two days. Hats off to all anglers who participated during a tough bite and a extra congrats to those who produced. Next stop for the PMTT: Lake Shelbyville, Illinois - May 15th & 16th LIMITED SPOTS ARE STILL AVAILABLE!! SINGLE EVENT ENTRIES ACCEPTED!! visit the PMTT Website www.promusky.com for more information! | |||
