| Happy Spring!!
I've read in the past that some of you guys like this new bait. I've found some at Sportsman's Warehouse at what seem like a good price- $13.49. How do you guys fish this bait? Does it have a glide like a jerkbait? It looks like a crankbait.
Also, they have the Pearson Grinder- is it really as weedless as stated?

Location: Iowa | They are currently my favorite bait. I reel them down to depth(depending how deep I want to fish) then just go nuts with the rod. You can straight retrieve them, but so far all of my strikes have been while I was letting the bait suspend in place during a pause, or immediately following the pause, as soon as the bait moves again. I mix in small twitches, up to 3-4 foot rips, and always let it pause at least a little in between these. But I prefer 1-3 second pauses most of the time. You can make this bait do funny things depending on how you choose to work it. Get one out there and play around with it, but always be ready for the bite. I've had them t-bone it, and almost jerk the rod from your hands, and I've had them just kind of suck it in and you just feel a little bit of pressure on the line, or a little tap. If it don't feel right, set the hook. Good luck! |

Location: Black Creek, WI | SLAMR has a good recommendation... and that is to check out the video clip on this website. Take note in that video how LITTLE rod movement is needed to get the bait to kick out, dart around, etc. in an erratic manner. I think many people are over-working this lure at times. Getting the bait jumping around is good, but if you over-work it you will REALLY need to give it a good long pause if you want to hook up. I've seen lots of fish MISS this bait because their timing was "off" and the angler starts the bait dancing wildly again before the strike is complete.
