Posts: 464 Location: SW Ohio | Anyone using this as a tackle box? Saw them at our local BPS and thinking about getting one to consolidate. I currently have two bags (one softside cooler with hard insert and an older Cabelas bag) that I have cut downspout tubes for lure dividers. They work well but get soaked when it's raining and are a pita to dry. The Plano box should hold both sets of lures, supposedly can hold 300 lbs (for standing on at the back deck) and is waterproof. At 12.5" tall, it should line up quite well with my back deck. Would be a bit heavy loaded but then I can combine exercising (lifting) with fishing... https://www.planooutdoors.com/collections/gonow/products/gonow-box-l...

Posts: 1765 Location: Mt. Zion, IL | I have one in grey (large). It is nice, but if you load it with rubber, I hope you have a crane. The latches make it more of a pain with them not being spring loaded. You have to pull them away from the tub every time you let the lid down. I never zipped my Lakewood I used to use, but the beauty of it is the lid would fold flat without any fuss. It’s not that big of a deal, pretty minor really, but you would have to move them every time you open it if you plan to stand on it. I can get 8 deep 3700’s in them with the center divider so it holds a lot.

I was able to move all the lures from two bags into it plus a few more downspout tubes. And a 3700. I need to arrange the tubes better, probably need to cut a few more. Even with all that, it is no where near the weight of the Lakewood, which is nice. I see what you mean about the lid and latches but I don't think that will be an issue for me. The box sits even with my Skeeter's rear deck so I don't need to worry about tripping over it like the Lakewood. And being plastic, the rain won't soak into it like the two bags.
