| I'm going up to Eagle the last week of June into the first week of July. I'll be staying in Outlet Bay but most likely fishing south all the way down to Osbourne Bay. This decision was made mainly because the darker water will hopefully be more forgiving for my father who has never muskie fished before. My question, is what lures should I be bringing? I have a lot of downsized bucktails, suicks, and a regular bulldawg that I plan on bringing as of now. Are there any lures you would recommend I bring/acquire? Thank you in advance, and any other additional help would be appreciated!

Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Lean heavily on 8s, some 9s. I've done really well with Shumaway flashers which though hard to find are the same as the Spanky Baits Raven. Mag dawgs and swimbaits without getting too big to make up for when you get bored of chucking blades. Some topwater possibility, but that seems to heat up at the end of July/early August.
Caveat, I usually fish far north of there on Eagle.

| Thanks, Slamr. I bought a couple double 8s with a maribou dress on it. Not quite a shumaway flasher but they're from brands I trust. Any recommendations on topwaters you like? There is a cheap lee lures fish stick on ebay I may grab to fill that need. Also any must have colors you like to bring other than the normal smoke/black and orange/black combo? |

| Two years ago, I had good luck with a double 8 in metallic green. It was the guides's bait. He showed me one that had been used to the point the paint was gone. He said he didn't know why, just that it worked. He had dozens of bucktails but that was his go to. While we fished his go to top water was a Fat B****d. Had it in a number of colors but said it was by far his most productive top water in windy conditions, which we had. |
