We've been stuck at mid-60's here at Leech Lake for a couple of weeks. South wind is going to finally change to NW Monday, I'm looking forward to it. Leaves are past their peak.

I fished Vilas county during the record heat last wk end and the fishing was terrible. Fished Thur-Sun, did not catch a musky. No follows,
250 guys fished the St Germain tourney Sat- Sun, only 12 muskies were caught, largest fish was only 43".
Hopefully this change in the weather will help.

In addition to those subpar St. Germain results, Phelps had their big tournament last weekend as well. 194 anglers, 3 day tourney, live bait allowed, only 11 muskies caught. None were caught on meat; and the guys that tried meat couldn't keep them alive.

I fished Monday and had water temps around 64. We raised a couple in the weeds but no takers; I fished yesterday again on some darker water - temps 62/63. Got one shorty off a break, but again slow.

Despite having 30 degree overnight lows and frost, water temps are only slowly dropping. Looking at my logs from prior years, this week water temps are normally 54/55. We are far from that. Definitely not a normal fall around here - normal fall patterns are delayed.
