Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | Want to change the spark plugs in the Merc this winter, but just want to make sure I get the correct ones.
I don't have the owners manual, so can any of you help me with the correct spark plugs??
I have a 1996 Mercury 75 ELPTO tiller. I am sure the spark plugs in it right now are the correct ones, but the people I bought the boat off of didn't have clue.
I am looking for the right ones, not ones that will work.
Thanks for any help.

Get your serial number and model # from the plate on your engine and plug into following link
http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com/PartsExpress/HomePage/homepage.a...
This will tell you the plug you need. I get mine (NGK BU8H) at Pep Boys for 1.79, dealer 3.99+

Location: West Chester, OH | I'm told by a local shop, that Merc parts are catalogued according to serial number NOT model year. Mid-year changes are fairly common. This cost me an extra trip to the shop for plugs this Spring.
Now carry a copy of the serial # in my wallet for those impulse trips to the parts counter. |
