| There's been a lot of talk about the Tranx400 vs. just about everything. I haven't seen one about it against the old 400TE. I seem to remember the TE doing a pretty good job on 10's. The Tranx 400 does not. Are the gears larger in the TE? |

| I like my 400 TE's. I have two Tranx 500's. My PG has been sent out to be fixed twice this year, for two different breakdowns. For power, my PG is better. Don't know about the Tranx 400. |

Location: Hayward, WI | I'm not sure that the actual gear size plays much of a roll in ease of retrieve, but the line pickup will for sure. The TE at 25" vs the 400 Tranx at 30 is a pretty fair difference. There's a price to pay for that speed and it comes in the form of harder to crank.
Going from a 34" HS Toro Beast to a 26" NACL is like night and day. It almost feels like the blades aren't turning on the 26" NACL after getting used to the faster 34" reel. And that's with a longer (more leverage) handle on the 34" reel.
