| Does anybody have a bore sighter for .30 cal. that I could borrow or rent for a few days? I decided to wait a year for the new 7mm-08. Instead I’m going to get some new optics for my old trusty Marlin. I don’t want to take it to a gunsmith because I don’t want “big brother” to know of every gun I have. Thanks [email protected] |

| Dude, since it will only shoot 50 yards just use open sights[;)].....get a 35 caliber w/ 200 grains + you can stick your arm through the hole to drag it out! Why would the gun shop check the Marlin? Here you just take the guns in + they do whatever you want. I love the 35 as it is major thick here + most all my shots are 30 yds. max.....many are 7-15 yds. I got a Remington 270 if I hunt fields but rarely hunt anywhere but behind the house. I guess being near a big city they would be more careful to check stuff. Saw 2 today + a coyote but the bow couldn't reach them so they will be there for black powder.[:sun:] |

| Get a .338 instead, a 225gr. bullet will tumble a whitetail a 300 yards and it will only leave a exit wound the size of a silver dollar.[:praise:] |

| I applaud your decision on the 7MM-08. I have 2 and I`ve never used a more versatile cartridge. I shoot everything from 100 gr HP`s-165gr Grandslams. My wife uses one with 120 grain Balistic tips, I ususally use 139 Hornadys or their new 140 SST. Awesomely accurate and deadly loads.
Getting to your bore sighter, try using one of the new laser cartridges that are out now. They are just a basic laser pointer in a shell casing. My brother recently bought one for his 30-06 and it put him damn close in just a couple of rounds.
