I finally got some action on a glider!!! I landed a 36"er and missed 2 other bigger fish today on a hot tiger undertaker. Question...when you have a fish following on a glider when it gets close to the boat, what do you do with it? I had a fish today follow it in and I let the undertaker sink about 5-6 feet, and then started twitching it. the fish took a swipe at it when it came back up all the way to the surface, but it missed and it hit my rod.

Boatside techniques on a glider are tough. I try to mix it up. I've never caught one at boatside but I've had them hit with a glider. Sometimes I do a regular figure 8, sometimes i keep working the glider as i walk around the boat and sometimes i just stop the lure.

i've fooled a couple fish last year on an 8 with a glider. i've also had fish go around the boat with me 3 or 4 times also before hitting. i think theres a few things you can do with a glider before it gets close to the boat to up your chances of getting the fish to hit. first off i try to change up the rythem and try to be really irratic with with your retrieve. next i speed the rythem up for 10 feet or so and than let the bait pause for a couple seconds before working it again. i've also had decent luck when the bait is about 10-15 feet or so from the boat jsut reel quickly than stop it a couple feet out and let it pause and than go into a figure eight, circle or what ever u wanna do. It works for me but nothing is magic. a muskie is a muskie.

Like MRM said, change the glider by speding up the rythm, making it pop up or down.
