A buddy of mine told me recently that when divers had to do maintenance work on the Garrison Dam back in the early 2000s that they encountered large pike about 4 feet long. This took place in the deep tailrace below the dam. Have there been muskies caught in the tailrace before?

I heard divers saw catfish the size of sherman tanks down there too. Divers are a weird bunch and in general shouldn't be trusted, although there are plenty of 4 foot pike in there, so in this case they were probably right. I doubt it was a muskie.

From a diver friend of mine claims that he himself on the lake side of the dam has encountered 40" walleyes and 50" pike..... Stories that without pictures I can not believe. I doubt it was muskies as well. I have seen big pike though

LOL- I live near and have fished both the Lake and Tailrace a ton. There are some big pike and big walleye. The trophy carp and buffalo are something to see too hah!
