Perhaps it is my winter reading (Bill Hamblin's latest book is one I recommend), but the idea of an excursion to Georgian Bay is taking hold. Are there reasonably accurate paper maps now available for all or any part of the Bay? I have the Navionics App on my iPhone, which has some detail. Any hint on where to start? I would be better off getting a guide, but prefer being "on my own".

Go to navionics website and print off your own map. Info it all the time and then tape them to a poster board and overlay them with clear packing tape to make them waterproof.

The Georgian Bay area is immense.
Countless sections to hunt muskies. Honey Harbour, Point Au Baril, Moon and French River areas...
If there ever was a body of water to NOT prefer to be on your own...this is it.
I can recommend guide Jody Mills http://www.millsmuskyguideservice.ca
Other good muskie guides on the bay but Jody is the only one I have fished with.
Good luck!

Fished a day with Graham Bristow out of Port Severn last fall. We raised 7 fish in post cold front conditions with very strong NW winds all day after a night of violent thunder storms. On my own, I would've driven right by 90% of what we fished. I'd recommend a guide for at least the 1st day on Georgian Bay. Local knowledge is a huge plus when dealing with a body of water that big.
