My question is because of the shape and the back of the boat being fiberglass is it a very bad idea to add a kicker bracket or is it not possible to do so? A couple of friends have recommend me not to try to do so? What are your thoughts? Al

Al,

I have a Ranger 690 with a panther lift and 9.9 kicker. It's been on there since 1997 without a problem. My boat has the 10" setback molded into the hull for the big motor and the "sorta" rounded design and the panther lift fits just fine.

Many of the kicker brackets made today can be fitted to most transom designs. Unless the manufacturer of your boat advises not to mount a kicker on the boat I would not be affraid to do it.

What brand boat do you have? Some bass boats have a cenrtral transom motor mount laminated in for the main power, but do not have a reinforced area for a kicker like the Walleye boats.
