Posts: 4266 | That was one of the best poolside videos that I have ever seen. The lure looks fabulous and versatile. You mentioned earlier in the thread that this isn't a "glide bait", but you sure can fish it like one. The other thing that I really liked is the one thing that I have been trying to stress to guys that I fish with or guys on the web, the most important aspect of fishing gliders and jerkbaits is implementing a pause in your retrieve. I'm glad that you mentioned it on several occasions. Not that I need more lures, but I will be adding a few of those to my box this year. Beaver

Posts: 355 Location: Wausau, Wisconsin | Thanks to everyone for such nice comments, espcecially Beaver, that made my day. When I classify a lure as a glide bait, I naturally think of baits like Mantas. To me, this seems more like a "slash bait" as defined by the Rapala X-Rap. While I have heard comparisons to lures like Dawgs and Super Ds, this lure is intended for a different type of fishing and fish activity. That's the great thing about fishing, each person finds what works best for them where. It's not like I'm rushing to sell my soft plastics and I hope I didn't portray that in my video. The Tyrant in my mind, is its own category.

Posts: 531 Location: Hugo, MN | I just saw the video, and I must say, the bait looks fantastic in the water. I can't wait to get my hands on one. I like how aggressively the bait can be worked, which is the way I like working gliders. In addition, I love the big tail. I think the best part about this bait is the way it continues forward momentum and tail action after the pause. That's going to trigger a lot of fish. Please tell me they'll be available at the MN Muskie Expo.

Sorry they will not be at the MN Show but will be available in April at Bass Pro, Gander Mtn, Rollies, Smokeys, Throne Bros & many more stores.

it seems well made but I noticed in the video that the action of bait reall made by sweeping rod side to side. I don't like this because during that slight time frame of switching the rod side to side you could miss a strike. Prefer baits that allow you to keep your rod tip pointed at the bait. I feel you will better a better and faster hookset. Just my observation.

Posts: 355 Location: Wausau, Wisconsin | Guest, You are correct. Notice though, I'm only using that action when trying to walk the bait side to side, which is not what I intended the lure to do. I was just trying to showcase it's diversity. It is designed to be fished as you prefer, with a one direction, downwards motion. I couldn't agree with you more.

Posts: 663 | We've had a number of calls in the last few days at Rollie & Helen's about the Tyrant. Yes, we will take pre-orders for these. Will ship and bill you when they come in. Just give us a call and let us know which colors you want. They are not on the online ordering system yet. Phone calls only right now. Thanks.

Posts: 89 | Why is this thread listed under "Basement Baits"? Shouldn't it be under tackle and equipment? This is sure to be one of the best new baits of 2009! The bait will be available at several major retailers very soon! I have seen the quality and action of this bait first hand and know I will be throwing them a lot in the upcoming season! Justin, you have truly come up with a winner!
