I think you are right about the peak. However late August is going to be unbelievable. Isn't it. It better be.

Just got back from a long weekend on the big pond- LOTW- Morson with a few of the WFO OUTDOORS PRO-STAFFERS doing a video shoot. Had a great time like always, had very warm temps had water temps in the 75-80, Fish were on Rock reefs & still in the Cabbage also, the cabbage is almost dead in spots and the bloom has started. Caught fish on Bucktails, topwater, & crankbaits,
The middle of the day the fish seemed to be the hottest! Ended up with 13 muskies a bunch of Pike and few nice walleyes tring to think there muskies.
30,33,37,40,40,42,42,43, 43,43,44,44,46
a bunch of nice pike and a 23,23,27" walleyes that we got ripping depth raiders on rock reefs
And YES, we had alot of ther fish on that we could jus tnot get in the net and lost at boatside, but that is why they call is catch and release.
Heading back up Labor day cant wait.
Attached are a few pics & the 49.999 i got this spring

Our group of 4 fished the Sabaskong Bay area last Wed - Sunday. There was a moderate bloom but not as bad as last year at this time. Fishing was tough until Saturday night when the weather changed. We only landed 2 fish from Wed - Sat and worked extremely hard to even see fish. A storm came in on Saturday afternoon and it was like someone flipped a switch. Every spot we fished on Saturday night in the rain and then again on Sunday morning we moved or caught fish. It was an amazing change.

Top water moved the most fish but we never really determined a good pattern. Fish seemed to be relating to rocky points or islands especially if the wind was hitting them. We even pulled a couple out of very shallow cane/frags areas.

If I were going back I would try shallow rock/weed points with topwater and if that didn't work I would start casting crankbaits a little deeper off the same structure.

Whitefish Bay we found 72 water temps. Cool nights so that number will keep dropping. Tons of deep green cabbage.

Six of us were at Monument Bay Lodge from 9/2 to 9/6. It was our family's first trip to LOTW. We had gotten some advice on the popular spots from a forum member. It paid off. We boated several smallmouth, pike and muskie of 32", 34", 48"(my personal best) and 50"(my nephew Jared's PB) which was also our family's first 50. The water was pretty much flat from Sunday to Thursday and the Bloom was in full effect. From pea soup thick to floating Tourquoise Toxic. We were in 16' rental boats with 25hp so we were limited in how far we could go but we did find clearer water and got a milkrun established. It was a good time, fun to fish a wilderness lake.
