Probably a 56/57" I saw on Mille Lacs, laying up on the sand. I marked it, left it alone for awhile, and then came back and burned a big thumping spinnerbait past it's head. It spun around on a dime (it was calm and I was sight fishing) and was on my lure in nothing flat. It stayed "nose on it" right to the boat before it broke away. It was moving it's jaws the whole way. Man, was my heart racing...looked pretty touch and go for awhile there.

Other than that, the 55 incher we boated last season up North. Now that was a thrill.

Hi
I have been a muskie guide on Mille Lacs Lake for over twenty years.
I have had a chance to watch these muskies grow. Over the years you get fairly good at guesstimating length. I have seen hundreds up to the mid 50 inch range on the big lake. Over the last few years we have been after two muskies that are at the 60 inch mark (give or take an inch). Saw one last year. She looks like a gator. The amazing thing is she has been in the same area for three years.
One of my clients caught a forty pounder when we were after her.

Launched my boat last year on the Madison chain next to another fisherman. Fished for half an hour by myself waiting for buddy to get off of work. Ran back in to pick him up and the guy that was launching next to me was putting his boat back on the trailer. Mentioned something about "being done already?" and he hoists up this 50+ inch hog off the bottom of his boat , puts it back down loads his boat and squeals off. Ouch
