We have a pontoon at our cottage and I fish muskies from it all the time. Have a trolling motor that is designed for a pontoon and it is a fishing model so the front and back rails are lower. The biggest plus is that it is so stable. You cast all day and it is like standing on a dock. Guys that have only fished from aluminum boats have commented on how after four or five hours they feel far less fatigued. On long days we even have a porta potty on board and plenty of room for food and water. The drawbacks are that they get blown around by a stiff wind much more easily than a deep V. The other negative is that you almost have to bring the fish to a doorway to net it but I have got a number of them when fishing by myself and if you are prepared it is not that big a deal. As to what others think, do you care what they think about how you dress to go fishing? If not, then don't worry about it. If you do, take up golf.

My tournament partner and I have been talking about setting up the ultimate muskatoon. 225 hp, hummingbird side imaging with a 101 terror a on the bow. What comfort.

Saw a Tri Toon at a show with a 300 Verado that was supposed to be capable of 60 mph. Musky 34, that would do the job for you. It even had full canvas so you could save on motel rooms, just zip her up at night, bunk down on the luxury couches and you would be set.

Posts: 477 Location: Iowa | My wife has always hinted at buying a pontoon. I have had it all figured out in my head. I think it would be a great trolling setup, with the whole family, or the guys. If we ever buy one, it will be set up for fishing too. I have musky fished in an old Starcraft v-bottom without a trolling motor, just use the wind, and small jon boats. Caught fish then, and didn't care what anyone thought. You can make anything work, just get out and fish.
