Posts: 439 Location: Lake of the Woods, Morson, Ontario | Finally some good action to report! One boat went out yesterday after arriving early morning and picked up a low 40s right away. Came back to check-in and settle into the cabin and went back out for the afternoon and evening and picked up 5 more. A couple in the low 40s, most others in the high 30s. All bucktails.

Posts: 439 Location: Lake of the Woods, Morson, Ontario | Actually had a boat with 3 anglers fish all day this yesterday. Might be the first guys all season that put in a full day. Even through a squall and then another period of sustain moderate (then light) rain, they found fish almost everywhere they stopped. They hung an 8 on the board and saw a super giant that may have flirted with legal status. A porky 48" at the end of the day was the biggest fish landed. "throw a bucktail. Reel it really fast." Bald rock, bays with weeds, bays without weeds, bays with sand, bays without sand, points. They all held fish. Three fish hit after drawn out figure 8s. They did not look like they were going to eat and disappeared before coming back to crush baits. They kept figure 8 going. Steady speed with no direction change. Just sticking with it produced 3 fish most people would not have caught. Time on the water. You can't catch them from the cabin!

Posts: 439 Location: Lake of the Woods, Morson, Ontario | Been windy since Saturday morning. The mostly SW blow has made it tough on anglers getting out to areas they had been seeing fish. Just before the winds picked up, multiple 48s and 49s (up to 49.5) were landed. Mostly bucktails on multiple structural elements. Water temps low 70s in main lake and hitting mid 70s in shallow bays during the warmest parts of the day. Winds forecasted to drop to manageable levels tomorrow and the next few days should be stable. Keep your lures wet! J-Man

Posts: 439 Location: Lake of the Woods, Morson, Ontario | Heat waver has made fish a big sluggish it seems. Been several really nice fish caught the past week or so, but follows and locations aren't what we would consider normal for this time of year. Lot of reports stating fish in in the weeds/slop. Not much going on with rocks. Water temps are getting uncomfortably high. Time for extra caution with all your catches. Water releases are safest if you can live without pictures and exact measurements. Getting a slight break in the heat the next few days.
