Steve, Wifey and I go to the warm clims every year for a week. I have been to the sun coast, just south of Cancun and cast surface lures for barracuda and jig for an assortment of unknown fish. I've been on both sides of Mexico and the best and cheapest fishing I have found is on the Pacific side. A little known place called Huatulco. Yellow fin tuna up to 300#s, mahi mahi to 50#s and a few rooster fish. This is one unbelievable fishery with acres of baitfish getting ripped by huge schools of tuna (the average is maybe 15#s). Last time I was there it was all trolling for $10 a pole per hour. I also take my own spinning stuff and wade the shore. Surface lures like a super spook, woodchopper, or large skitterpop works for me. I've always wanted to cast for the tuna but a 30#er would strip the line without turning back. I have never been to Ixtapa or Mazatlan but I hear that is also fun. Puerto Vuarta was unimpressive to me. Huatulco is not commercialized and some good deals. The best all-inclusive there is the Gala resort. Its very hot there, but, no muskies. [:sun:] []
