Very common on early season Muskies--Looks like typical spawning scars to me----I do alot of walleye fishing in WI before the Memorial weekend Muskie opener and we catch many,many early pre-opener muskies and Many of them have the spawning scars just like your fish has. Have seen those marks on most larger fish that I would think to be the FEMALES.

One similar to JLongs, but I have to assume this was spawn related. Caught this fish in the first week of June in Vilas Co. . The interesting thing is while the spawn would have only been a couple months prior, this scar was still dripping blood.. So maybe it was an aggressor or maybe something out of the ordinary.

Those are just spawning scars. If the fish got hit by a prop it would look a lot worse than that.
