I just started making my own mono leaders out of 80 Pound Climax hard mono material and I use bucher split rings w/ those. I got to thinking a couple days ago that I like to rip/twitch and use jerkbaits a lot so I will probaly start making my own wire leaders once I get the right materials. I will use split rings w/ those also. Do you guys recommend Bucher or WOlverine? For the wire leaders, what diameter of wire should I get?

Oh yeah last year a couple times after reeling in the bait I noticed the Snap was open! [:0] I'm lucky I didn't lose a fish or the bait. I'm positive I closed the snap.

I spend a little extra for the snaps that I use, and make all my own leaders. I've never had one come undone. When I feel that they might be losing their strength, I just replace them. Maybe if I had a reason to, I'd switch.
Stubborn Pollack I guess.
