| There are several problems with online voting, the greatest of which is the ease of cheating and influencing the results. Even if they made some sort of secure system you would be required to put in a social security number or some other personally identifying info and most would not be willing to vote because of their tin foil 'big brother' syndrome. Even if it were possible to make it secure, what's to stop me from using my friends and families socials who have fishing licenses but don't care to vote for 'my' side of the issue?
Just way too many problems with online. I don't see it ever happening. In person is the only way to get an accurate fair vote with as little opportunity for cheating as possible.
People make too much of these votes anyway. ALL votes in the Spring Hearings process are and always have been non binding. It's used for a gauge of public opinion, nothing more. Public opinion should be weighed more heavily in the surrounding areas where the changes are going to be implemented, that's just the way it is and is also common sense by my take. The CC, NRB, and State Legislature make the laws as they always have. |
