Many of you know Jason Schillinger (Reef Hawg) on here. He lost his brother Joe to an accident at home last week. Joe loved to musky fish with his bro Jason and put many big muskies in the net over the years. Thoughts and prayers with Joe's family and Jason.

Jason,
So sorry to hear of your and your family's loss. May God Bless you all with his Grace during this difficult time... let the fond memories of your times together replace the great sadness in your heart. It is certain that one day in the future you will be sharing your boat with your nephew's and regaling them with stories of their dad, so that he will continue to live on in their hearts, through you..... God Bless!

Al

ps. Please let me know if you or the family need anything - I have way to many muskie lures anyway.

Just walked in, and saw this. Wow, thank you.

While I'm not sure Joe ever posted anything here, he frequented the boards frequently over the years. I'd send him links to posts here regularily, and he was always a big fan of the Big Fish board.

In addition to all of our family gatherings/summer week vacations/long trips, I'll miss the Tuesday night Musky league, a league of just one boat, that wasn't even on a Tuesday(or even once a week or month these days). When we did get together to fish a few times per season, he wouldn't skip a beat, his uncanny wit at the forefront. We'd laugh as he'd sing Musky lyrics to his favorite classic rock anthem, country tune, or even polka. While he wasn't into Musky fishing like his big brother, he had 'it'. He always joked about catching his fish from the ten speed bike or washing machine structure when out on the river here in town, but the truth was the kid could read the water.

Wish I could make a longer post, but like the eulogy, it's harder to write about someone dear than it seems it should be. Thank goodness for family, of which we have a lot of at the house right now. Thanks also to friends, many of which I didn't realize cared about us that much. Along with those from close friends and family, there was a plant at the funeral from a couple guys I met on this site over a decade ago and fished with just a couple times. Thank you Brad and Cory.

I always meant to post a couple of his fish to surprise him over the years, but not being much of a photo poster, just never got around to it. I got around to it now. Here is a nicer fish Joe got with me a couple years ago. Funny, cause he helped get a pontoon boat started for a group of girls stranded on the sandbar nearby soon afterwards. I'll never forget his words to them after he got their starter to engage.... "You gonna finish that taco dip?".

Love you man.

Jason,

I'm at a loss for words here and know that nothing I can say will help to remove the grief from such a sudden and tragic loss.  However, I can't help but to offer my most sincere condolences and mention that I think you are already on the right road by recounting the good times with your brother. I think that's going to be your best weapon to combat such devastating sorrow…

Brothers are forever, stay strong friend.

Jerry

Jason,
So sorry for your loss; a message board sometimes doesn't seem like the correct venue to adequately express my condolences, but in this case, maybe it's about right. Cherish the memories and know that you're in our thoughts and prayers.

Thank you so much for taking time away from your own set of life concerns, to send your prayers. It is not expected, but so warmly appreciated.

As difficult as this is on immediate family and self, I'm forwarding each prayer towards those in greatest need right now, my sister in law Paula and the two little boys. I just wish I could do more to comfort them right now.

Good/safe fishing to each of you,

Jason
