Not sure where to post this but I lost my favorite hat last night running across walker bay. It's a lime green thorne bros hat and will be greatly missed. I looked for 5 mins but I think the waves swallowed it.lol

X2 lost my Matthews on vermillion with cat eyes on the visor that were illuminated. I was able
to watch my hat w/ lights sink to the depths. That was actually kind of
erie to see the lights dim as the got deeper. Something to think about.

I would be really bummed out if I lost my old Adidas cap that I use for fishing... it's got an odd sentimental and personal value to me. I feel your pain!

I run about 50% on hat recovery, but I've gotten better on it...the trick is to stay on the throttle and get turned around and back on the spot with the net ready. Sheesh, the stuff we talk about....

After buying a 620T, with a 150 this spring, I am just learning to hold on to my hat, or I am going to have to carry extra hats.

I've always found them until last night but the waves were too bad to turn and watch it land. I needed to watch where I was driving. Strong winds out of the se and I was on the north end.

I have a mutliple rescue hat. Cabelas with a Muskie that is on the front and wraps down one side. Wife tried to throw it out a few times too. But.. I still have it. About 10 years old or so.

Lucky hat? Probably not.

Turn the hat around on yer head when traveling at speed...or...take it off till ya get to the next spot??? I dunno...just some suggestions.

I've been in this situation before as well. Sux. Lost my favorite Coast Guard hat from back in the day. A hat my brother gave me from back in his days of being on the U.S. Coast Guard's Katmai Bay ice breaker stationed out of Sault Saint Marie, MI.

Lost that hat in a lake in MI back in '92.

They actually sell a hat lanyard, 2 small clips and a short piece of lanyard. Attach one end to back of cap and the other end to the back of your collar. Problem solved.

Just an FYI on the Hat Lanyard.....I went that route, and my hat still blew off...right off the clips.....I'd say if you're runnin' 150hp or above, that ain't gonna do 'er.

so far I have a 100 % hat recovery, but I wish I could say the same thing for that nice fishing rod and reel a buddy sailed to the bottom of Bone lake a few years ago......

Did a similar thing to my favorite white thorne bros hat. Was night trolling in November and somehow with my big puffy coat knocked it off my own head, I hit full reverse with little regard for my trolling spread in seen it slowly sinking in the light of the cat eyes. I reached all the way up to my elbow in the freezing water but was about a foot short of getting it. So I was wet, cold, and depressed. It was hard but I finally found another one that is now on it's last leg from use. Still haven't managed to find another for backup but maybe I'm j not trying hard enough. It's funny how such a seemingly silly thread can get such a response!

I hear you on the hat loss, I whacked a BEE the other day with my favorite hat and the buckle broke in the back and the whole works went flying. IM not even sure if I killed the bee. But im bummed about my hat w/out a buckle now. Sad day.

I feel your pain on the hat loss.

I am a little supersticious about hats. Every year I have one hat that really produces and others that I get totally blanked on. Its a rare year when I have two good hats. So when I lost my lucky hat a couple of years ago, I was so bummed. It took several outings to get another hat broken in and even then I was still losing fish that I should have had. Luckily, I found the good hat just in time for the late summer/fall bite and went on to have a great year. Funny thing is I had put the good hat in one of the boat compartments. It seems they only work if they are on your head.

Rods, lures, whatever. Give me a lucky hat and its fish on!

Never own a hat you really care about. Now if i could just learn to throw some away when it's time.

Tragic.

This is tragic Mike. Didn't you lose something behind Antigo Island? What was that?

1) a tragedy
2) foolish mistake
3) youthful indiscretion

More like time I could have spent elsewhere. Although the old perch fisherman probably had a good show.

Yeah...because when I go perch fishing there's nothing I want to see more than a couple of pale moons staring me right in the face.
