Posts: 956 Location: Home of the 2016 World Series Champion Cubs | Maybe using the axe as a spud as they move about the ice. Ice looks very clear ie thin.

Posts: 2361 | The first time the fish comes up sideways under the ice it is absolutely heartstopping cool. Long, somewhat boring, but the images of the fish up under the ice are great stuff.

Posts: 39 Location: IL | Very Cool Video! The axe is probably there in case they break through the ice, as a pick to pull themselves out.

Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | Looks like plenty of ice to me. A good 3 or 4 inches of solid clear ice. Doesn't get much harder/safer than clear ice. Edited by Pointerpride102 1/6/2010 11:29 PM

Posts: 547 Location: Oshkosh | I have to agree that is an awesome job of landing that fish on 6lb line. Pointer, is that you filming for a guy out in Utah? I know you love those Bogas! Peter Edited by WI Skis 1/6/2010 11:43 PM

Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | People in Utah wouldn't even dream of ice fishing on ice like that. Though I know of a guy that would run a 4 wheeler through the ice and blame it on an air boat.....

''Pansies had to use a boca!!! Not good for the fish!!!'' LOL!!! Nieither is the hook or the fight! Better to see someone use a tool, rather than blindly grabbing for gills under the ice. WOW!

Posts: 158 | That is a pretty cool vid, seeing the fish under that clear ice is neat. I have a feeling they released it. Just poker reading abilites at work. Also I think that boga worked pretty well for pulling her out of the hole. I know the vertical holds aren't cool but I believe it causes more damage to bigger fish. One thing I do know for sure is that it takes a real man to come on an internet forum and call people 'pansies" Edited by teddy b 1/7/2010 3:46 PM

Posts: 13 | The axe would probably be for re-opening previously used frozen over ice fishing holes so you can re-fish them. Didn't see an auger in the video so very likely this was the reason for the axe... It's done that way all the time.
