Posts: 53 | They are an injected plastic Bulldawg type bait. They just made their debut at the Canadian Musky Odyssey. A friend grabbed one and can't wait to throw it. Considering that musky isn't open up here yet, it remains unproven to me.

Posts: 1057 Location: Medford, WI | Perc, I was wondering the same. I'd really like to get my hands on one, but they don't have purchasing info. on the site at all and no links to dealers. Maybe I'll email them if I have time today. If I do, I'll let you know. -Jake

Posts: 8 Location: Waterloo, Ontario | Hi Guys, I'm 1/2 of the H.O.T. Lure Company (my partner should be reading this now). This post was brought to my attention earlier today so I thought I would take the time to reply and help out with questions and the overall concept. So far this bait made its debut at a Muskies Canada hosted event Muskie Odyssey 2007 in St. Catherine’s, Ontario. We are still in negotiations with several dealers within Canada, United States, and Europe, hence the lack of overall exposure on the bait. Once we know who will be carrying the baits I'll be sure to make a posting on our website. Within the site there are general tail assembly instructions, current available colours, a poolside demonstration, and general information regarding the bait. For the time being until stores responsible for carrying the bait are established, you could visit the contact us page on the website and shoot us an email. If you can't wait to get your hand on one, we may be able to help you out. http://www.hotlures.ca Pin the tail on your Donkee! Aaron

Posts: 53 | from the website Bait Specifications: The Swamp-Donkee is 12 inches long and weighs 6 1/2oz. Quality stainless Wolverine split rings, Mustad hooks, and an insert molded one piece stamped leader are just a couple items which make this bait stand out from the rest.

Hello Capt Bigfish, Thanks for your interest in the Swamp-Donkee! I am not sure why the email bounced but please email me at [email protected] for further information. I am the other half of the H.O.T. Lure Co. I can answer any questions you may have. It is a new bait that was tested very successfully last fall and is just making it's way to market. We are working on a few big distributor names in Europe, U.S.A and Canada as we speak. Cheers and remember to Pin The Tail On Your Donkee! Dean

I did not know that there was a bass bait called a Swamp Donkey. I did a pile of we searching and all I found was definitions for a Swamp Donkey that I don't want to mention on this thread. Thanks for the info!

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | "Bulldawg type bait"? Don't see that at all. This monster looks 100% unique. Awsome lure guys! Saw this on Bookems site a while back. Looking at it, it looks like you can replace the tail section and mix and match? Awsome! Great lookig lure! James

Posts: 84 Location: Buffalo Grove, IL | I bought one along with a replacement tail while up in Hayward in early October. I only had one rod while up there and it was more of a bucktail/crankbait rod so it wasn't heavy enough to really try this bait. It's a heavy lure but just looking at it's movement in the water I think it's going to be great and the fact that it doesn't fall apart as quickly as a bulldawg would is great. Really looking forward to starting to throw this lure this upcoming season on my new, heavier rod.

Hi, I know this is a 3yr old thread, but I am looking for a replacement tail for a swamp donkee. Mine has "melt" in my tackle box... I did not used it a lot, but I'd like to give it more chances to catch a beast ... the website mentionned here is no longer online. I cannot find them anywhere. I am from Canada if you have any info, just email me using the above name at gmail.com... Thanks!

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | You might try to email Tyrant Tackle. I heard they have a lot of replacement tails and they have a similar configuration for where the tail would join. Different plastisols but I don't they the two are incompatible polymers like FormulaX and plastisol are. I also have replacement tails but you woudl have to use a knife to carve them out for a good fit. http://www.tackleindustries.com under the SuperD selections are the various sizes of 6-pack replacement tails. They are compatible with all major brands of swimbaits too. Cut/Melt/Stick....

Posts: 906 Location: Canada | Where are you located in Canada? I know of a bunch of places that sell these and the replacement tails. Send me a private message and maybe I can set you up with a retailer willing to ship if you can't make it to any of the locations I can provide you.
