First time poster. I live in Madison, Wisconsin.....

Anyways.....can someone please post some information or a picture on how a quick set rig works and how to set it up. I was reading an article about how single hooks kill muskies most of the time and want to get my fishing buddy set up the correct way. I'm mostly a catfisherman and use circle hooks so using suckers for bait is not my thing.

I prefer the rubber band rigs. The Herbie rig or Mania's Lift off rig. Either one of these rigs come with instructions on how to rig them.

You want to set the hook on these rigs ASAP. If the fish is moving away from you blast it ASAP. Sometimes a musky will pick up the sucker and not move, when this happens I apply pressure to get the fish to move, as soon as she moves give her both barrels.

How to do the "Howie" or Presque Isle Rig (my personal favorite):

7islands: The PI rig is a30"peice of flouro or seven strand with a 5/0 treble on one end and a barrel swivel on the other

7islands: frank we punch a hole in the suckers lip pass the barrel swivel through and attach the hook near the dorsal fin very lightly in and out after scraping off a few scales
