I purchased what I was told was a wood phantom softail...
Im a newbie here but the bait floats? It's this normal? The other phantoms I have are slow sinking

There was a small run of floating Phantoms that were made quite a few years ago. So it was likely from that era. Maybe 10 to 15 years ago?

The only floating phantom I have is a 7.5 standard. Sweet bait. If you don't want it I'll take it off your hands.
