Is there anywhere that takes trade in outboard motors. Thinking of trading a 200 optimax for a 150 four stroke .

You would probably get more and a better deal on your new motor if you could sell privately. Try to sell while still on your boat and can demonstrate. The complete process may take a bit longer but your still fishing in the mean time. Your motor should sell in reasonable time.

Hiya,

Most Dealers will do trades on motors. Reason being they profit on both ends, just like auto dealers do. It can be a little more costly as an individual sale as compared to trading a rig in, but it is all up to you. If you are happy with the trade value and new motor, that is all that matters.

I did it a couple of years back for a different brand of motor but same horsepower. I gained as well with a stronger motor.
