I'm setting up my new Lowrance Elite-5 HDI.

The set-up wizards asks "Do you fish in water less than 60 ft."

Does anybody know what it is doing with that information? I'm thinking well - yes, I fish in less than 60 ft. of course. But some of the deeper basins in the lakes are greater than 60 ft and I like to scan deeper water for suspended fish.

What is the reasoning behind the question. I called Lowrance Technical Support but of course they are closed on the weekend when most of us would be working on our boats, fishing, etc.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Probably has to do with the frequency of the transducer. It will work with either frequency but will work better with one vs the other. Generally speaking I'd guess.

That is correct. This allows for better bottom pic up at speed and more accurate pictures. It is easy enough to change in your settings if you get into deeper water. It goes into all this in your manual.
