Hi guys,I was clearcoating some baits today,I remembered that some people where saying that they preferred nonglossy baits. So I took some 0000 steel wool and sanded a few. This seemed to work pretty well. What would your guys take be on this? I also believe that I had once seen a chart rating the level of shine given off by certain lures with Rapala's having the least shine, which has always been a very productive bait.So what do you prefer high gloss or no gloss? thx plitzzz

I don't really think that gloss or lack thereof  has much to do with whether a bait catches fish. It does, however, with catching fishermen.

I prefer a dull finish on my baits. I get this from my Bass fishing days when a faded out finish always seemed to be the best in the hard baits I used. There are a number of Bass pros that to this day let their crankbaits hang in the sunlight to "fade" them before use. A faded firetiger bait can be awesome. I don't know if it just looks a little more natural to have a dull color or if it is more visable to the fish or what the attraction is. I just like them better.
