Location: Not far enough north! | Well I got home from LOTW 2 weeks ago and hopped in the boat tonight and my HDS would not work. It worked fine the whole week up there. We had one day of rain up there in the middle of the week and it was fine even on the trip off the lake. Stored it in a dry storage compartment on the way home. no rain on the trip home either. Boat has been uncovered in the garage the last two weeks. I reinstalled finders and cleaned the boat out right when I got home and it has been sitting since. Pulled the cover off the hds to switch chips tonight and water came out from between cover and screen. Had to come out of the unit....
Wasn't there a seal problem a few years ago with the gen 1 units? I'll contact Lowrance tomorrow. Unit turned on at first, got the start up screen then fuzz. Wouldn't tunr on after that... |

Location: Not far enough north! | Well Just wanted to update. Lowrance was good to me. When I talked to them they knew they had a batch from a few years ago that had seal problems and were surprised it lasted this long. They did some checking and confirmed mine was within those serial #s. I mailed the bad one in on Monday and got the new Gen 2 unit in fed ex today. That's a pretty quick turn around especially for a unit that was out of warranty. The only downfall is all my data is gone. I couldn't back it up and they could not get it either. So there is a lesson in there fellas. Go out to the garage tonight and put all your data on a card just in case. |
