I need to replace the lower unit on a 2002 merc 225 efi. Does anyone have experience with the aftermarket products. Twin City Outboard quoted me $1300 for an aftermarket unit that they say they have been using for years with no problems. Hayward Powersports quoted me $2000 for a new OEM. Any advice either way would great. BTW I'm in northern WI if there are better alternatives please let me know. Thanks! Mike

I have a 1999 OPTI max 225 that has a new lower unit on it from last year. I bought it from MW Marine. Was ordered straight from the Mercury factory.
If it fits your motor we can work something out. My motor died on me. Too many hours. The starter and lower unit were put on last summer. I ordered a 225PRO SX. Sure hope it gets here soon....

For that price I would go with the OEM. Stay away from SEI lowers if that is the aftermarket they sell. I am in Rice Lake and can get the OEM at that price if interested, or we have an aftermarket company that we deal with (OBR) that sells for $1800. PM me if interested.
