Location: Smith Creek | If it's a wooden handle with a rubber cushion on the bottom it is a saltwater boat rod. 95% of saltwater boat rods made in the 60's and 70's have handles exactly like you describe. Wood is more resistant to corrosion and the rubber is protect the butt (of the rod) when its in a fighting harness. Doesn't mean it wasn't used for muskies, but it wasn't built for that.
On the plus side, the rod should provide you years more use.
But, glass rods were mass produced in that era and regardless of who tied the guides on it's probably not worth much of anything. |
