I've been fishing TUF line since it came out. I recently bought a spool of 80lb XP and it feels kind of waxy, not supple like the line normally feels.

I spooled up anyway but it is really limiting my casting distance. I only took a dozen casts, but was not happy. The line was actually sticking to itself a bit. I was casting a double-10, so the line was wound on there pretty tight.

Have others experienced this? Does the stiffness wear off? I hope they didn't mess with a good thing. It's been over a year since I last bought any.

I haven’t had that issue with the XP, but also haven’t bought any recently. If you continue to have issue perhaps look at getting some Suffix. I have switched over and am really happy with the stuff as it is a lot like Tuff-Line XP, but less water retention. Just as limp.

Spoke to Western Filament today. They had a small batch with the wrong coating on it. I was unlucky enough to get one. They offered to replace it at no charge.

I'm very happy about that since I've always used TUF with no issues.
