Being that water atoms are closer together when it freezes does this take away from the action of your baits?I know it matters on the density side as far as sinking or being boyant. But how about action?

As the water cools and is near freezing the water molicoules are closer to become a solid does this affect how far sound will travel too?

If I remember my high school physics from 40 years ago, water is most dense at about 39 degrees. From that point, as it cools, it becomes less dense. Good thing it does or our lakes would freeze from the bottom up. This now gets down to your question, at 39 degees( most dense) a lure should in effect be lighter than in warmer temps. But sound and vibrations should be fastest and carry farther. For what it's worth, the fish should swim slower through it too, but I think we're picking nits here.[:)]

Theoretically, the lure's action should be affected since it is haveing to use more energy to move through the water at a colder temp. How much does it really affect the lures action? I honestly can't tell you. I'm sure just simple observations with a lure that you know each and every little move that the lure normally makes in warmer temps. As far as the distance soundwaves travel through colder water, (once again) theoretically, soundwaves shouldn't be able to pass through denser water as easily, therefor, not as far with same amount of energy used. That's just my thoughts, they maybe correct, they maybe incorrect, but anon was def. correct; get yourself a woman!
