I did some networking here at work and found a gentleman in my building who is also an avid musky fisherman.  He's got a place up north and invited me to do some fishing with him next weekend [10/07 - 10/09]

This is my first trip up to Vilas County and actually, my first time musky fishing this late in the season.  Typically, I'm out trapping or scouting public hunting land for small game trails.

Am I pretty much regulated to using big rubber and jerkbaits/gliders and crankbaits?  Should I still be bringing along all of my bucktails and spinnerbaits?  Or is it a mute point and just more stuff to haul around?  Not looking for any super-duper, family heirloom secrets.  A simple push in the right direction would help.

The gentleman I'm fishing also said due to the clear water up north, I should probably stick with neutral fish pattern colors (perch, shad, walleye, etc, etc.) along with the standard blacks and whites.  And leave the fruity colors at home (chartreuse, pink, fluorescent green)   I'm used to fishing the hot chocolate stained water of the Petenwell Flowage and other algae infested lakes in this region of Wisconsin.

PM's are welcome if you'd rather not divulge anything publicly in the forum.

I definitely would not leave your bucktails at home. Ever hear of slow rolling? Now's the time.

I would agree with the natural colors for the most part. Although it doesn't hurt to have a few bright options.

If you give specific lakes you'll be fishing you may get a little more insight.

Sorry, guys.... I'm at work right now.

Home lake is going to be the Twins. North/South Twin.
But I guess we may have the possibility of venturing over to Big Sand or Kentuck, as well.
But the home lake will be the Twins.

Thanks a lot to those of you who sent me PM's via Facebook. Big Brother doesn't allow me to use Facebook at work, I just saw the message pop up on my phone so I will answer them this evening. Apperciate it, guys...
