Subject: single vs. treble hook bucktails

I was wondering if you think there is a more successful hook rate using a single or a treble hook on bucktails. I was fishing with a guide a couple weeks ago who was fishing a Mania Lilly Tail that had a large single hook. To me hook removal would be easier with the single and also potentially less harmful to the fish. Do fish seem to shake off a single hook more than a treble? I'm thinking of converting some of my treble hook buchertails to a large single hook. What do you think of this idea? THanks

I've never lost a strike from a bucktail w/ a single hook. Infact on tonka I trade in most of my trebles for singles because they are less prone to catching weeds. Much easier to unhook fish as well.

All my spinnerbaits have 2 single hooks. Better hook up and hook out as well as been almost weedless. Yes some fish don't get stuck or come off but I get the same problem with Believers with 3 treble hooks.

Please tell me how a muskie can grab a believer travelling at more then 5 MPH and not get hooked? [:sun:]
