Is it still legal to backtroll in vilas county lakes? I have read books talking about backtrolling and rowtrolling as being legal but they are older books. And since the speedometer won't mark the speed how do you know how fast to troll?

Backtrolling is absolutely illegal in Vilas and Oneida counties...thank God. Row trolling is legal and very productive.

Exact speed with a Row Troller can be determined with a handheld GPS.
