I am looking to get a okuma magda or cabelas depthmaster lc reel because I'm looking for a lefty model. They both have the option of 5.1:1 or 4.0:1 ratios. I don't know too much about trollin so what gear ratios would you all recommend?
Thanks

I prefer the lower ratio especially when winding in a 14" jake to check for weeds when the boat is going 5 mph.

All my old 47's have the high gear ratio, which is not easiest pullin dipsy's and lead. The same would be true for musky trolling, I would go with the lower gear ratio.
