I have to drill two 3/4 inch holes to add grommets for my new depthfinder on the bow The holes have to go through the carpet and I need help on how to avoid snagging the carpet and ruining it. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Take a knife make an X (little bigger than hole)in the carpet, lift carpet out of the way enough so drill does not catch (most of the time drill will not catch even if you do not lift it), drill hole. carpet lays down covers hole like it was not there.
