Chcuk, I like to use skunktail baits on Big St.Germain. Actually Musky Jack from that area turned me onto them and I have caught some huge muskies on them (1 that was 52 inches). Question for you, I also have some skunktails from Eagle Tail and Blackburn which have lots and I mean lots more hair on them then Musky Jack's do. Caught plenty of muskies on these lures also. I would bet your familiar with Muskie's Jack's version of the skunktail since your from the area. Which of these skunktails would you use. Also, why do skunktails work so well on the St Germain chain of lakes and not so well on the Madison chain of lakes. Thanks in advacne for your help!

Hi Skunk, your right, I do know Jack and own 7 or 8 of his baits and I asked him many years ago if he would make me one or two that had more hair in them, he agreed but told me that the slim ones get more attention. Well he was right! I don't know why but it does. Two things I'll let you in on, first Big St. is well, known for fish taking bucktails well into Nov, again why I don't know! second, when jack fishes his baits he always puts a white twister-tail on the hook and whan I found this out I started putting the tail on the bait, it improves the attention the bait get by double. Hope this helps.
