Ever since I bought my boat, I have noticed that when turning, the wheel turns effortlessly to the left, but is much harder to turn to the right. This is the case whether I am sitting still in neutral or running at speed. I have seastar hydraulic steering...has anyone else ever had this problem, or have any ideas how to remedy. I have checked the little fill cap on the steering column, and it looks fine. Wondering if there is anything on the cylinder by the motor that can be checked.

Thanks.

sounds like you need to bleed the air out of the right side of the hydraulic steering port back by the motor.

Thanks guest. I will check that out. One question though...according to the Seastar manual I downloaded off the internet, it says to fully turn to the left, and then while holding the rod, turn the wheel to the right until a steady stream of oil comes out of the bleeder valve. My question is do I have to disconnect the rods from the motor in order to do this?
